Specialised Expo 2017 will be held in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Expo, which is taking place on a site covering 25 hectares, will be open between 10 June and 10 September 2017.
Kazakhstan was elected by BIE Member States as the host of Expo 2017 during the General Assembly of 22 November 2012, and Expo 2017 Astana was formally recognised by the General Assembly on 11 June 2014.Expo 2017 is being organised under the theme ‘Future Energy’. This, along with the three subthemes – Reducing CO2 Emissions, Living Energy Efficiency, and Energy for All – will allow the Expo to present the state of energy today and to showcase sustainable solutions and innovative technologies.Expo 2017 organisers expect over 5 million visits and hope to gather over 100 official participants.
3 months dedicated to Future Energy
The Expo will last 93 days and will be one of the most spectacular cultural venues of 2017. Expo 2017 Astana is expected to include over 3,000 themed, cultural and entertainment events. To date, more than 100 countries and 17 international organisations have confirmed their participation in the Expo.
Expo 2017 Astana is to gather over 2 million visitors from all over the world, with a total of 5 million visits. The site of the Expo was conceived with the theme at its heart, giving all visitors the opportunity to discover “Future Energy” both inside and outside the pavilions. The Expo will showcase the theme through interactive and educational exhibits in thematic and international pavilions, and by fostering intellectual debate and creativity through the Future Energy Forum.
